Jones touts endorsements, punches back on 'big oil' in latest mailer

In his most recent mailer, California State Senate District 8 candidate Dave Jones promotes his endorsements. Jones is one of three Democratic candidates running for the position.
Jones' mailer highlights his endorsement from the California Democratic Party. Along with endorsements from other elected Democratic officials, Jones also lists noted civil rights leader Dolores Huerta.
The three-candidate race includes labor activist Raffa Garcia and Sacramento City Councilmember Angelique Ashby. Jones and Ashby are expected to advance out of the June 7 primary and face-off in the November general election.
Jones also addresses attacks directed at him by the independent committee called Californians for Jobs and a Strong Economy in the mailer. The mailer says, "Warning Big Oil is pumping out lies about Dave Jones."
The mailer states that the group is funded by "Big Oil companies, including Chevron and Valero, are spending hundreds of thousand on attack ads." The mailer urges voters, "don't be fooled."
This piece is the second mailer we have been made aware of to registered Democratic voters in Elk Grove. There have been no reports of mailers distributed by Ashby or Garcia.
