Detrick's hat-trick - scores Elk Grove firefighter endorsement

Yet another setback for incumbent Mike Leary; in a freefall?


Steve Detrick scored his third major endorsement when the Elk Grove Firefighters of Local 522 gave him the nod for the Elk Grove city council. Detrick earlier received endorsements from the Sacramento Republican Party and Elk Grove police officers association.

"I believe public safety is the most important role of government," said Detrick. "That is why I am honored to receive this endorsement."

An e-mail from Detrick's campaign described the third endorsement as a major blow to Mike Leary's bid for his third four-year term. They also characterized Leary's campaign as being in a "freefall."
