Elk Grove foreclosures continue unabated

Foreclosures continue upward trend after brief respite; local advertisers hold steady

For the week ending November 14, foreclosure activity as gauged by trustee sales notices in the Elk Grove Citizen continued to trend upward. August and September saw a slight decline in trustee sales notices.

As a local measure of our local economy, display ads continue to hold steady. Given the state of the national economy and October's 2.4% decline in retail sales nationally, this may indicate Elk Grove based retailers are still trying to attract business via print advertising.

We take this as a sign of confidence on the part of regular advertisers and could signal our local retailers are perhaps holding steady. With talk of the recession developing into a depression, we will embrace any positive signal we can.
