Last night at 11:45 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to the area of Timkir Way and Frank Gregg Way regarding a shooting that had taken place.

Upon arrival, officers located 18-year-old Laquesha Smith suffering from a single gunshot wound to the buttocks. Officers then received information that paramedics were responding to the Shell gas station at Elk Grove Blvd. and Auto Center Dr. regarding another victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.

Officers contacted the second victim, a 17-year-old female, who indicated that she was in the area of Timkir Way and Frank Gregg Way when she was shot. Both victims were transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

At this point, investigators believe that the shooting occurred after an unknown group of individuals showed up at a party that was being held at a residence in the 10200 block of Frank Gregg Way. After a verbal exchange between the two groups, the suspects pulled out a handgun and began firing.

The first suspect was described as a male black adult (18-20), 5’7”, slim build, wearing a black hooded jacket with dark baggy pants. The second suspect was described as a male black adult (18-20) wearing dark clothing.

Both suspects were armed with handguns. The suspects then fled the area in an unknown vehicle at a high rate of speed.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Communications Center at (916) 714-5115 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Callers to Crime Alert can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.

Fight Back? Fighting back is us teaching our kids right from wrong and maintaining CONTROL over them even beyond 18. I agree poor parenting is to blame. And as for the "South Sac trash out of our neighborhoods"... puulleeaaasseee!!!! This problem is everywhere... just last week a murder, suicide in El Dorado Hills. If you want to get away from "South Sac trash" move to North Sac or Folsom or Lincoln and deal with the trash there...

Everyone in the neighborhood watched this violent "supposedly" gang related gun battle. Bullets everywhere. THE CAR THAT FLED WAS A WHITE 2 DOOR CAR. Yes, everyone watched your stupidity in motor skills while you were being shot at and reversed towards the shooter then reversed back away from the shooter. You dont have the intellect capacity to drive so put away your keys. Pick up a bicycle and pedal away "gangsta."
