On May 2, 2008, the Elk Grove Police Department and medical personnel responded to the 9900 block of Sorrentino Dr. after receiving a 911 call from Sabrina Banks indicating that her adopted daughter, 3-year-old Lavender Banks, was unresponsive. Upon arrival at the location, medical personnel were unable to resuscitate the child and she was pronounced dead.

During the course of this lengthy investigation, information was obtained that led detectives to believe that Banks was responsible for the death of her daughter. The case was recently presented to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office and a warrant was later issued for the arrest of Banks.

On August 5, 2009, the suspect was arrested in Visalia, California. The charges include murder, assault resulting in the death of a child under 8 years of age and endangering the life or health of a child.

Banks is currently in custody in Visalia and will be transported to the Sacramento County Jail for processing in the next few days.

She should have never HAD this child or any other child. She was arrested (charges dropped) in 2003 when a baby died in her care as a FOSTER MOTHER!
