St. Maria Goretti Church Hearing Draws Huge Audience

The Elk Grove City Council is currently hearing testimony on the Elk Grove Planning Commission's denial of a conditional use permit for St. Maria Goretti. The proposed church would be located on Bradshaw Road just north of Sheldon Road.

Over 80 people have signed up to speak. Currently there are 35 more speakers who have yet to testify.

Although local Roman Catholics make up a majority of the speakers, several members of the Church of Later Day Saints have also showed up to show support.

The council will not be able to vote on the matter as council member Gary Davis was late. The applicant requested the voted be deferred to a future meeting.
