An Elk Grove man was arrested last night following an kidnapping and carjacking incident.

According to police reports, the 20-year old Elk Grove male victim was approached on the 5100 block of Laguna Boulevard by 34-year old Diedrick Burnett of Elk Grove asking to use his cell phone. When the victim refused, Burnett reportedly displayed the butt on an unknown type of handgun and demanded the victim drive him to several South Sacramento locations.

Fearing for his safety, the victim complied with Burnett’s demands. After approximately one hour, the suspect got out of the victims vehicle and left the area and the victim contacted police.

Through investigative efforts, officers were able to identify a possible suspect. Police presented the victim a photographic line-up where the victim was able to identify the suspect.

It is not know why police had photographs of Burnett. The suspect was arrested on carjacking and kidnapping charges and transferred to the county jail.

Domestic violence incident results in injury, arrest

A domestic violence incident where the victim was visibly injured led to an arrest early Tuesday morning.

According to police reports, 31-year old Amit Singh of Elk Grove was involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical confrontation. When the victim left the residence and attempted to drive away, Singh allegedly swung a spool of metal wire at the driver's window.

Singh then allegedly broke out the window causing the flying glass caused visible injure to the victim. When the victim tried calling 911 on a cell phone, Singh allegedly destroyed the phone.

The suspect fled the area but was later located by responding officers. Singh was arrested and tranferred to the county jail.
