According to polling information recently released, the people of Elk Grove have a low opinion of the trustworthiness of their local government as compared to other cities in a study completed International City/Council Management Association (ICMA).
The five areas of rating included in the public trust measurements include:
- Value of services received for taxes paid
- Overall direction of city
- The job Elk Grove does at welcoming citizen involvement
- The job Elk Grove government does at listening to citizen
- Overall image of or reputation of city
In each of these five areas, the city rated “below” compared to the survey benchmark for all cities included in the study.
While Elk Grove scored “below” when compared to the benchmark for the other cities, it is worth noting the city scored better than state and federal government benchmarks. It may also be worth noting that generally speaking, governments on all levels are suffering from a lack of public trust as the Great Recession lingers on.
It is also worth noting that while the city scored "below" in all five categories, the percentage of favorable ratings in each area were 38, 30, 34, 27 and 54 percent respectively.
