Elk Grove City Planning Director Placed on Paid Administrative Leave

EGN learned tonight that the City of Elk Grove placed planning director Don Hazen on paid administrative leave.

Elk Grove City manager Laura Gill verified the action. Gill would not say under what circumstances Hazen was put on leave, whether or not is was an initial step toward termination of employment or when the leave became effective.

Speaking to EGN after the conclusion of tonight's city council meeting Gill added "Under the advise of the city attorney [Susan Cochran] I have said all that I can say."

Hazen, who has over 25 years of planning experience, was hired by Gill and has been with the city since January 5, 2009. Hazen could not be reached for comment.
