UPDATED 9:31 A.M. - 
The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has released the identity of the murder victim as 65-year old  Surinder Singh. The other shooting victim is reported to be Gurmej Atwal, 78.

On Friday, March 4, 2011 at 4:29 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to an emergency call regarding two men who had been shot. The caller indicated that the men were lying on the sidewalk on E.Stockton Blvd. south of Geneva Pointe Drive near the Park-n-Ride.  
 
Upon arrival, officers and emergency personnel discovered two elderly Indian men suffering from gunshot wounds to their upper torso. Medical personnel were unable to revive one of the two shooting victims and he was pronounced deceased.  

The name of the deceased has not been released and identification will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. The second victim was transported to a local area hospital and was in critical condition undergoing surgery.
 
Detectives are in the processes of conducting interviews in an effort to obtain information about the person(s) responsible for the shooting.  At this point in the investigation, Detectives have not established a motive for the shooting.
