The Elk Grove Police Department is asking for the community’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a robbery that took place at the Chevron station located at 8296 Laguna Boulevard.

On April 27, 2011 at 3:10 a.m., an unidentified male approached an employee working inside the gas station and demanded money. The suspect simulated having a handgun inside the sleeve of a jacket and threatened the clerk.

The suspect then demanded that the employee open a safe and remove the money from inside. The employee did not open the safe, and opened the cash register instead.

Once the register was opened, the suspect reached into the cash drawer and removed an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency. The suspect then exited the store and fled in an unknown direction on foot.

The suspect was described as an African-American male, 30 to 35 years of age, approx. five feet seven inches tall (5'7"), approx. two hundred forty pounds (240 lbs), with a shaved head, and a mustache. The suspect was carrying a light colored jacket over his right shoulder and was wearing an orange shirt with plaid pajama pants.

Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Callers to Crime Alert can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00. Tips can also be sent via SMS text message by entering CRIMES (274637) on a cell phone, followed by Tip732 (agency identification number) and the message.
