Elk Grove Teen Tased, Arrested After Car Chase

An Elk Grove man who refused to stop for a vehicle code violation was ultimately subdued with a taser gun late last night.

According to Elk Grove Police, officers initiated an enforcement stop for a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Cedric Antwine for a vehicle code violation. When officers activated sirens and lights, Antwine reportedly did not yield and led officers on a seven and half mile pursuit on Highway 99 and several surface streets in Elk Grove and Sacramento.

During the pursuit, Antwine collided with a raised center island causing the vehicle to become inoperable. Antwine then exited the vehicle and ran from officers.

Officers chased down the suspect who refused to surrender as he tried to escape. Antwine was subdued after an officer used a taser gun.

Antwine was transferred to the county jail following his arrest.
