Last week's Joint Public Safety Forum was such a common sense idea it is amazing that no one had thought of organizing something like that during the first 12 years of Elk Grove's existence as a charter city.

Not only did one civic-minded group conceive the idea, they had wear-with-all to make it happen.

The group we are speaking about is of course the Elk Grove Community Connection (EGCC).

Founded by Elk Grove residents Connie Conley and Linda Ford and most recently supplemented with the addition of Teresa Rodriquez, last week's safety forum is just the latest in a long string of successful forums and community initiatives spearheaded by EGCC.

Along with the safety forum, EGCC has most recently organized the Sports Complex Town Hall Meeting, Elk Grove Mayors' Charity Casino Night and numerous other events and ordinances benefiting Elk Grove.

While EGCC has experienced its share of potshots along they way, who hasn't, they nonetheless deserve to be recognized for their civic-minded endeavors. So as Stephen Colbert would say, here is Tip of The Hat to EGCC.
