Because of Elk Grove's unique history, residents of the city receives public safety services from two different governmental agencies - The Cosumnes Community Services District provides fire and emergency services while the City of Elk Grove provides law enforcement services.
In an effort to provide residents with the opportunity to discuss any public safety concern, the Elk Grove Community Connection is sponsoring a joint public safety forum tonight.
The forum, which starts with a 6:30 pm reception at Elk Grove City Hall, will feature Elk Grove Police Chief Robert Lehner and CCSD Fire Chief Tracey Hansen who will offer presentations on street and home safety and tips to identify problems and safety and crime prevention strategies.
"I am very excited for our Elk Grove public safety teams and agencies with both police and fire coming together with the citizens and citizen groups to meet to discuss how we can all work together for the greater good of Elk Grove," said Elk Grove City Council Member Steve Detrick. "Public safety protects our quality of life and I am a huge supporter of all of our men and women in uniform that put their life on the line to serve us"
