A Sacramento man who reportedly had to much to drink, was apprehended by an Elk Grove Police Department K9 unit Friday night after fleeing an accident scene.


According to police reports, 27-year old Donald Stone was involved in a collision with another car near Bond Road and Waterman Road. After the collision, which resulted in non-life threatening injuries to a passenger in the other car, Stone reportedly left the scene, abandoned the car a short distance away and fled the area on foot.

Responding officers established a perimeter and began tracking the suspect using a K9 unit. Stone was found hiding in some bushes sand when he refused to surrender, the K9 was deployed and he was taken in custody.

Stone was found to display signs of impairment and failed a sobriety test. After being treat for injuries, Stone as arrested and taken to the county jail while the injured passenger was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
