A store clerk was injured following a shoplifting incident early Friday morning at an Elk Grove gas station.

According to Elk Grove Police, an unknown male suspect entered the AM/PM gas station-convenience store on Harbour Point Drive, grabbed two cases of beer and left the store without paying for the items. An employee confronted the shoplifter outside and grabbed him.

The shoplifter turned around and swung one of the cases of beer at employee and struck him in the face and head several times causing visible injuries. The suspect fled westbound on foot from the business.

Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect who was was described as a Caucasian male adult, 20’s, 5`7", 140 lbs., with a small build. the suspect was wearing a black/gray/white flannel zip up jacket with a hood, a white t-shirt and dark jeans.
