Very poised and smart woman, just wish I could believe she isn't part of a bigger political machine. I know she'll run in 2014for city council, just plan on her and Davis always voting the same.

To the first poster above:
I couldn't agree with you more. She is a smart and educated women; however it appears she is in the pocket of the larger democratic abyss. She and Davis will make an uncomfortable pair. Here's hoping she is smart enough to distance herself and make her own choices.

Let's try to remember that Chaires is a student of the Harvard School of Government, which maintains that governance should be left to the specialists, not the proles.
There is a smugness in her demeanor that is the ticket into the Harvard Club, even if she is a woman and a minority person (which used to be excluded from the Ivy Leagues.)

Michael are you speaking of the smugness she displayed when she thought her appointment to city council wrapped up? Well hopefully she learned some humility. The sad thing is she is very qualified and would make a good council member, it's hard to see past the very transparent political strategizing and chess playing. I wouldn't vote for someone no matter their credentials when you can see so blatantly how she's being lead around. Nancy hopefully you read these notes and re-evaluate your allegiances and reasons for wanted to run for office. There are good people in this town who want a city to be proud of. Don't make a game of it.

I agree with Michael above. Regardless of her so-called Democratic and liberal credentials, Nancy possesses a certain smugness that comes from an Ivy League education and sense of accompanying entitlement. Take a close look at her husband's affiliations while your at it
too.

Give me a smart and liberal lady from Georgia State, University of Minnesota, Chico State or University of New Mexico who comes unencumbered with that sense of superiority from a Harvard education, and you will get my vote.

Don't be hoodwinked: she is part of the Davis-Steinburg-Dickinson coalition that is out to gut public education while pocketing money from the Walton family and Reed Hastings. Do your research and you will find the truth.

So, anyone who has an Ivy League education is smug? How many Ivy League graduates do you commentators know?
