Elk Grove Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Accident

At 7:55 a.m. today, the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding a collision involving a motorcycle and a minivan in the 8200 block of Laguna Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a minivan making a left turn from a designated turn lane on Laguna Boulevard had collided with a motorcyclist travelling westbound on Laguna Boulevard. The 52-year-old motorcycle driver was thrown from his vehicle as a result of the collision and suffered fatal injuries.

Medical personnel arrived and determined that the motorcyclist was deceased. Identification of the motorcycle driver will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. The driver of the minivan was not injured and provided a statement to officers at the scene.

The collision is under investigation at this time. Anyone with information regarding this fatal traffic collision is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.

The accident victim has been identified as 52-year old Dean Lara of Citrus Heights.
