Congressional candidate Igor Birman will be the featured speaker at this Tuesday's meeting of the Elk Grove Tea Party Patriots.
Birman, who is Chief of Staff for Congressman Tom McClintock (R-Elk Grove) is one of three declared Republicans who will challenge incumbent and freshman Congressman Dr. Ami Bera (D-Elk Grove) in next June's California Primary. The other Republican candidates include Elizabeth Emken and former Congressman Doug Ose.
The race for California's 7th Congressional District is once again expected to be close and has generated national interest. Under California's new election law, the top two finishers regardless of party affiliation will advance to the November election.
The Tuesday meeting is being held at the Holiday Inn Express on West Stockton Blvd. in Elk Grove and starts at 7 p.m.

Good luck to Mr. Birman in this district. This district is not likely to support someone with the extreme positions he takes. I can't help but wonder if he is a plant to help Emken.
First off who is this guy? Never heard of him.
Second, Jill how is he a plant to help Emken? They are both going after the same ultra-right, tea party, conservatives that have destroyed the Republican Party i the name of purity.
All he is doing by being in this race is making it easier for Congressman Bera to win re-election.
Birman could easily siphon votes from Ose. Emken does have some name recognition after her failed senate bid and has the backing of the mainstream Republicans. If Birman can siphon some votes from Ose, it will help her.
