Elk Grove City Council candidate Nancy Chaires announced several endorsements in her bid for the city's District Four seat.
Among those endorsing Chaires include the following:
- George Murphey, Vice-Chair, Elk Grove Planning Commission
- Kevin Spease, Member, Elk Grove Planning Commission
- Angela Spease, Elk Grove Civic Leader
- Pamela Irey, Trustee Area 6, Elk Grove Unified School District (retired)
- Angelique Ashby, Sacramento Mayor Pro Tem
- Eric Guerra, Chair, Sacramento County Planning Commission
- Kiyomi Burchill, Chair, Sacramento Planning & Design Commission, Asst. Secretary California Health and Human Services Agency
"I'm supporting Nancy because I believe she has the experience and dedication needed to represent the citizens of Elk Grove," Elk Grove Planning Commission Vice Chair George Murphey said. "As a member of the Planning Commission, Nancy has demonstrated an ability to grasp and understand issues, thoughtfulness in decision making and a willingness to listen to all sides of an issue."
Chaires, an Elk Grove Planning Commissioner since 2007, is likely to face fellow Democrats Steve Ly and Charles Shanks. Ly is expected to formally enter the race tomorrow and Shanks just drew papers for entry into the race yesterday.

If she gets elected, they will need two chairs, one for her and one for Pablo.
Coffee Bean,
So it's okay if, for example, Jan Detrick stands by her man at every event, trying to steal some of the limelight for her Realtor business because Detrick promotes her business whenever he can. But when it is a husband doing the same and supporting his wife who is a very strong candidate on her own, you imply that Nancy is not capable unless her husband is up on the dais with her.
How very sexist of you!
Interesting how Davis' original appointment to the planning commission, George Murphey, is supporting Chaires. Furthermore, Davis' first successful appointment to the planning commission, Kevin Speace, is also supporting Chaires. And one more curiosity is the Davis-Cooper split. Obviously Davis has zilch influence on the council and it all started when Hume punked the Mayor on the appointment of Trigg.
