Car Buyer Alert - City Council to consider Elk Grove Auto Mall incentive program

Elk Grove City Council Member Darren Suen said he would discuss a vehicle buyer incentive but
expressed skepticism of its effectiveness. |
At the request of Mayor Steve Ly, the Elk Grove City Council will consider an incentive for residents.

During their council reports at the Wednesday, January 9 meeting and discussion of future agenda items comments, Ly asked his council colleagues to consider a rebate-type incentive that would be eligible for Elk Grove residents to use at the Elk Grove Auto Mall. If adopted, the incentive program proposed by Elk Grove resident Connie Conley, Elk Grove residents would receive a $500 gift card with a qualified purchase of a new or used vehicle.

Although there was agreement to place the item on a future agenda by the city council, there was some skepticism expressed during a brief conversation. Expressing doubt on the effectiveness of attracting customers to the Elk Grove Auto Mall, which is the city's largest source of sales tax revenue, was Council Member Darren Suen.

The discussion between Ly, Conley, Suen and the other council members on the effectiveness of the proposed incentives can be viewed in the video posted below.
