Police find gun, ammo on Elk Grove High School campus

Two 14-year old suspects were taken into custody this afternoon after police discovered a gun and ammunition hidden on an Elk Grove Unified School District high school campus.

According to information released by Elk Grove Police, administrators at Elk Grove High School on Elk Grove-Florin road told law enforcement they had received credible information that a student on campus was possibly in possession of a firearm. Based on the report, an EGPD officer who works with campus security initiated an investigation.

Although the student in question was not found in possession of the weapon, EGPD, Sacramento County Sherriff deputies and school district security searched the campus. The search led to the discovery of a handgun and ammunition hidden under bleachers in the gymnasium.

Police determined the first student and an accomplice were allegedly involved in the incident. Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to juvenile hall.
