In California’s
non-partisan local races, voters frequently ask candidates their party affiliation. In 2020 there is a far more urgent question for candidates running for office in Elk Grove and nationally.
Yes EGN, we need to ask that very question. And if any incumbent and/or candidate uses, a la Elk Grove City Council member Pat Hume, who for years has said, “I am going to hold my nose and vote” for Trump, as if Hume’s rationalization worked in his favor to pacify what his constituents were against.
Hume believed making that statement let him off the hook, and most likely in his mind, felt he was fooling constituents by his feigned empathy. No more! We have been fooled far too long by those tactics and time to call it out.
Time for honest answers, with a “Yes” or “No.”
And while we are at it, no more of the same with Detrick’s, Hume’s, Nguyen’s and Suen’s phony proclamations which, as with the latest one to a Blogger, was just superficial window dressing couched with hypocritical leadership.
