Oak Park Blood gang member convicted of South Sacramento drive-by murder

A validated gang member of the Oak Park Blood's was convicted today of a drive-by murder in South Sacramento. Lakquan Solomon was convicted by a jury of the first-degree murder of Brandon Campbell and shooting from a motor vehicle.

On September 28, 2017 at 3 a.m., Solomon and another unidentified male drove into South Sacramento and drive by the victim, Brandon Campbell who was outside of his friend’s house. After exchanging words, Solomon and the other male occupant drove away, did a U-turn returning to where Campbell was standing and shot him one time in the shoulder at close range with a 12-gauge shotgun.

At the time of the murder, Solomon was validated as an Oak Park Blood gang member. An allegation that Solomon suffered a prior 2011 strike conviction for robbery will be determined at sentencing.

Solomon faces a maximum sentence of 90 years to life in prison. Sentencing is on June 11, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 4 before the Judge Steve White.
