City Council Crooners - Elk Grove Mayor, her council members sing Christmas songs, do the Twist

Political junkies may recall the so-called Singing Senators. The four U.S. Senators performed and had some notoriety. While the group disbanded, there is a replacement that we will call the City Council Crooners.

Their first performance was during last night's Franklin High Schools Vocal Company telethon that was broadcast live on YouTube.

To see some of the Choral's highlights, you can view District 1 Councilmember Darren Suen sing a Rudolf duet at about the 20-minute mark, District 2 Councilmember lead the singing and dancing for Twist and Shout around the 40-minute mark - with apologies to Ferris Bueller, and Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen performs her duet of Last Christmas at 1 hour 10-minute mark. Only District 3 Councilmember Kevin Spease failed to appear.

There were several outstanding students' performances that you can view as you skip through. As for the City Council Crooners, enjoy, we guess!

With any luck, during tonight's District56 Christmas parade, will Mr. Darren Suen croon his version of White Christmas ala Bing Crosby? Perhaps Mr. Hume will go Ferris Bueller and have a Twist and Shout float, while the Mayor does a raspy Baby it's Cold Outside? One can only hope!

Okay, that was interesting, so say the least.
I have to give it to the group though, that took some major fortitude to get in front of the camera and sing. Pride be damned when it came to helping the school and community here. Congrats to all that took part. Let's see if you can continue into the new year. I'm hopeful! I know you can do it, step up and be the people that the community can be proud of.
