As was done during the primary, ACLU targets Stephanie Nguyen for non-response to civil rights questions
In the first independent mailer sent in the hotly-contested California Assembly District 10 race, the American Civil Liberties Union has...
In a mailer received by Democratic voters in District 10, the ACLU has
taken Elk Grove City Councilmember Stephanie Nguyen to task for not
responding to a questionnaire. That questionnaire was sent to Nguyen,
and her opponent, Sacramento City Councilmember Eric Guerra.
The
four-panel mailer includes a list of questions presented to the
candidate. Guerra answered all the questions positively, while Nguyen
was listed as having no reply.
There were 10 questions and six
categories. Those categories included criminal justice, police
accountability, immigrant rights, LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive justice,
and racial and economic justice.
The mailer said, "Thank
Assembly candidate Eric Guerra for defending civil rights and civil
liberties" and to "call on candidate Stephanie Nguyen, who failed to go
on record to state her positions publicly."
The issue of
non-responses has also become a defining issue in the District 5
Sacramento County Board of Supervisor race. Republican candidate Pat
Hume has refused to state his position on reproductive rights in his
race against Democrat Jaclyn Moreno, who has turned the defense of
reproductive rights and women's health issues into her central campaign
theme.
Democrats Guerra and Nguyen are both viewed as centrists.
Nguyen has advocated for the rollbacks of criminal justice reforms under
voter-approved Propositions 47 and 57 and is expected to receive
Republican support.

These questions are ridiculous and Guerra’s response shows he is out of touch with the majority of residents as his position is weak on crime, weak on safety and security. If she would have answered the questions she would have been blasted for her answers. So why waste the time.
