December 26, 2018 |

An Elk Grove man was taken into custody after a domestic violence incident led to the discovery of an assault weapon.

Just before 4 p.m. on Friday, December 21 Elk Grove Police responded to a call for a domestic violence incident. The suspect, Devon Pettit, 28, allegedly placed his hands around the neck of the victim and then pushed the victim causing a fall.

A search of the residence led to the discovery of an assault weapon and high capacity magazines. There was also evidence to suggest that one round from the weapon had been fired.

Pettit was arrested and booked into the county jail, and the victim was granted an emergency protective order.
