Domestic violence suspect arrested by Elk Grove Police, held on attempted murder charges



An Elk Grove man is being held at the Sacramento County Jail on a variety of charges including attempted murder following a domestic violence incident.

On the late afternoon of Saturday, February 1 Elk Grove Police responded to a reported domestic violence incident. During a physical altercation, Jesse Sotelo, 44, allegedly tried three times to strangle his victim and when the victim attempted to escape, they were prevented from leaving. 

During the altercation, Sotello also allegedly threatened to kill the victim. The victim sustained visible injuries.

Sotelo is held on five felony charges including attempted murder and is not eligible for release. Arraignment is on Tuesday, February 4.
