Knife-wielding home intruder arrested by Elk Grove Police

A Sacramento man remains in custody at the Sacramento County Jail on five felony and three misdemeanor charges after he allegedly entered a house and brandished a knife.

According to Elk Grove Police, just before 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 3 Jose Alberto Rodriguez, 29, drove his vehicle into a residential security gate on the 8700 block of Mecca Road in the city's far east rural area. Rodriguez entered the dwelling and confronted by a resident of the house.

Rodriguez left and then reentered the house through a window, and when confronted again, brandished a knife and threatened the victim. Rodriguez then stole property from the victim's vehicle, fled in his vehicle but was quickly located by responding officers.

A search of Rodriguez's vehicle led to the discovery of methamphetamine, cocaine, narcotic paraphernalia, and the stolen property. Rodriguez is held on $50,000 bail and will be arraigned on Tuesday, May 5.
