Press release from Elk Grove police
ELK GROVE , CA – On October 19, 2008, at 12:17 a.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding a collision involving a motorcycle and an airport shuttle van in the 8400 block of Bader Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a motorcyclist traveling north on Bader Road had broadsided an airport shuttle van that had just pulled out onto Bader Road from a private driveway. The motorcycle driver was thrown from his vehicle as a result of the collision and suffered fatal injuries. Medical personnel arrived and determined that the motorcyclist was deceased. Identification of the motorcycle driver will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
There were two occupants in the airport shuttle van at the time of the collision. The driver of the van did not require medical treatment, while the passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local area hospital.
Although the collision is under investigation, it appears that speed may have been a contributing factor to the collision. Anyone with information regarding this fatal traffic collision is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8147.
