Elk Grove Police arrested eight suspects between Friday morning and early this morning on charges of driving under the influence.

One arrest was made Friday night, three early Saturday morning and four early Sunday morning. There were four male and female suspects arrested.

I bicycle Franklin Blvd. to work and back and I'm glad to hear we've stopped a few of these unfit drivers. I'd hope that more than one takes the hint and stops doing it in the future.

My cousin in Sacramento City drove two months ago with a .29 BAC, his second DUI, and received 16 days of work project building wooden toys (Harley Davidson wooden motorcycle rockers). Aside from the ridiculously light sentence, we're priming disadvantaged kids to speed up and down Franklin on their future Hogs. Amazing!

I was wondering, is the cost of these checkpoint operations offset by the fines levied against these drivers?
