The City of Elk Grove’s Williamson Drive Sidewalk Project earned a 2011 Project of the Year Award in the category of small construction project by a large agency from the Sacramento Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA).
The APWA awards program recognizes projects that demonstrate excellence in management, administration, design, construction and community relations.

The new sidewalk, located at Elk Grove Blvd. and Williamson Drive, benefits the Elk Grove community by improving safety and access to the Elk Grove Adult Community Training Center (EGACT) and the Elk Grove Food Bank Services (EGFBS) Clothes Closet Warehouse.

“The new Williamson Drive sidewalk is a small project with a big impact—one that greatly improves safety and access for many of our community members with disabilities,” Mayor Steven Detrick said. “I would like to thank all the players involved who helped make this project a success, like Sacramento County, SMUD, the CSD and the hardworking staff at City Hall."
