In a day with numerous arrest, Elk Grove Police can be credited with the arrests of two suspects in a crime that has increased recently, theft of catalytic converters.
According to police reports, 20-year-old Tou Vang of Sacramento was operating a car early Wednesday morning that was stopped for a vehicle code violation on the 880 block of Metalmark Court. Upon contact it was found that a passenger in the car, 25-year-old Neng Vang of Sacramento, was on probation.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a backpack containing cutting type tools. Officers also located a catalytic converter and several “shaved keys” inside the vehicle and a search of Tou Vang's wallet led to the discovery of narcotics.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle where the catalytic converter had been stolen from. Both suspects were arrested then transported to the county jail.
Other notable arrest included 34-year-old Philip Heers of Elk Grove who was picked up on suspicion of robbing two rings during a residential burglary.
