Two men suspected in a drive-by shooting were apprehended by Elk Grove Police early Sunday morning.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched to Sheldon Road and Scenic Drive in response to a call regarding a reckless driver. Upon arrival, officers observed a 1991 white Lincoln Towncar stopped in the street blocking traffic with several individuals standing on the side of the roadway.
Officers contacted the group of individuals in which 21-year-old Rafael Marquez of Elk Grove and 1--year-old Antonio Meza of Shingle Springs were a part of. Officers determined that Marquez had been driving the vehicle before it stopped at the above location.
Upon contact, Marquez displayed objective signs of impairment. A handgun was discovered in plain view on the driver’s floorboard of the vehicle Marquez had been driving.
During the course of the investigation, officers developed information that Meza had fired two rounds out the passenger side window while the vehicle was traveling in the 8700 block of Bradshaw Rd.
Both suspects were arrested and transferred to the county jail.
