Today, Friday, January 11 marks a milestone of sorts for Elk Grove News.
It was five years ago today that this website was formally launched. Although our preceding website, Elk Grove News.org had operated for three years before ".net," in terms of continuity of operations we mark today as our formal anniversary.
We are thankful for our contributing writers and our valued readers, particularly those who so graciously point out our omissions and typus [sic] - you know who you are. We also extend a most heartfelt thanks to those individuals who have made financial contributions that have helped offset some of the expenses associated with our operation.
As an independent voice for Elk Grove, we will continue in our mission to provide news coverage unlike other media outlets. We thank our valued readers for your support, encouragement and yes, criticism, and to borrow from John Lennon, "we hope we passed the audition."

Thanks EGNews for allowing dialogue and discussion on issues. I don't always agree but like the opportunity to add my thoughts.
