Elk Grove News Podcasts - Recall effort launched against Mayor Darrell Steinberg

The late January 2021 storms in Sacramento continues to have political implications, particularly for Sacramento mayor Darrel Steinberg.

One of the effects has been several actions launched against Steinberg by the Sacramento Homeless Union. Earlier this week, the Union called on Steinberg to resign following the lack of shelter provided during the storm that resulted in the deaths of several unhoused individuals.

After Steinberg did not respond to their demands, today the group said it will launch a recall effort against Steinberg, who is in his second term as Sacramento mayor.

During the conference, Prince noted Steinberg is reportedly being considered by Gov. Gavin Newsom for appointment to the vacant State Attorney General's position. Prince urged people to contact Newsom in opposition to that possible appointment.

On Thursday, February 4 a zoom conference was held by the union outlining their plans to launch the recall of Steinberg.

The voice you will hear is Berkeley-based attorney Anthony Prince who provided background and the reasons for their effort.
