Chalk one up for EGPD

One of the most frustrating crimes for property and business is owners is graffiti because unless caught in the act, it is a most difficult crime to prevent or investigate.

Every now and then though, the 'artists' are caught in the act. Early Monday morning was one such time.

According to police reports, at approximately 2:00 am Monday morning, officers observed three suspects spraying the wall on a SMUD building located on Stockton Blvd. Two of the suspects ran toward a vehicle and were detained by officers. The third suspect was detained on an opposite side of the same building.

All three suspects had fresh paint on their hands that matched the paint on the building. Officers arrested 20-year old Juan Cortez of Galt and 20-year old Sebastian Rosenthal of Hayward. Both were transferred to the county jail.

The third suspect was a 16-year old male juvenile from Galt who was transferred to juvenile hall.
