The shuttered Ford store is at the gateway to the auto mall. |
The Elk Grove City Council will deliberate tonight whether or not to grant a $500,000 advertising subsidy to a group promising to reopen a Ford Motor car dealership in the Elk Grove Auto Mall.
The request comes from Performance Auto Group who will reopen the shuttered dealership as Elk Grove Ford. The previous incarnation of Elk Grove Ford closed over two years ago amidst declining auto sales and the start of the Great Recession.
If approved, the grant from the city would be used for promotional and advertising purposes over a three year period. Approval would require an amendment to this years budget and would give the group $127,000 for the current fiscal year.

This is so "unbelievable" that even after writing three comments I still can't get it all down in black & white. The bottom line, I guess is this....the $500,000. expenditure over three years had absolutely no effect in this dealership coming to EG....so don't start patting yourselves on the back. It's petty cash to them. At least Gary Davis had the "whatever" to change it to the Auto Mall, not just one dealership.
Maybe I'm missing something here..feel free to help me out.
